With the Brew crew, things could be worse

There seems to already be plenty of Ned Yost bashers standing in line, waiting to take a swipe at the Brewers skipper.

This always seems odd to me that for so many years, Brewers baseball was a non factor in the summer.  County Stadium and Miller Park served as only the rally point to get your grill started.  The baseball was lousy, but expected.  Now, when it is a better product, the paying customer still is not satisfied.

WIth more places to vent, maybe it just seems like there is more room to moan and groan.  But the knit-picking gets tiresome.  Every pitch, every lineup card, every defensive switch gets scrutinized under the microscope.  Yet the team is competitive and in much better shape in the NL Central than Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Houston.

Look, I don’t care for some of the strategy of Ned Yost.   He is grumpy and defensive during the season.  He stands by his players, sometimes too long, and can’t admit when he made an error in judgement that he changes later on.  But, Ned Yost goes to bat so to speak for his coaching staff and players.  If you’re suiting up, don’t you want to play for a guy like that?  If you are a player, and he takes you to task every time you screwed up…if he changes his mind constantly…if he gets embarrassingly down after losses, how many players would he have on board?

He isn’t perfect, but if the Brewers make it to the postseason, mission accomplished.  Ned said it best last season when folks were antsy…just enjoy the ride.

Remember, things can be worse…and they were.
